Raku Work

The ancient Japanese raku technique — pieces pulled from the kiln at peak temperature and placed in reduction chambers, creating dramatic, unpredictable surface effects.

Raku firing is a process of extremes — rapid heating, sudden cooling, and the unpredictable chemistry of smoke and flame. No two raku pieces are ever identical. Paul embraces this spontaneity, allowing the fire to become a collaborator in each finished work.
